Bachelor of Science Honours in Microbiology Course Details
B.Sc. (Hons.) Microbiology or Bachelor of Science Honours in Microbiology is an undergraduate Microbiology course. Microbiology is the study of microscopic organisms, which are defined as any living organism that is either a single cell, a cell cluster, or has no cells at all. Since microorganisms cause disease, Microbiology degree course usually comprises the study of the immune system (Immunology). B.Sc. (Hons.) Microbiology degree course includes the study of virology, mycology, parasitology, bacteriology and other branches. The B.Sc. (Hons.) Microbiology degree course covers subjects and topics like Macromolecular Structure & Analysis, Basic Microscopy & Instrumentation, Principles of Transmission Genetics, Principles of Immunology, Computational Biology & Bio-informatics,Recombinant DNA Technology, etc.
Bachelor of Science Honours in Microbiology Eligibility
- The candidates should have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination in Science stream with a minimum of 50% marks secured in Biology subject and/or in aggregate from a recognized board of the country.
- Some reputed colleges and institutes also conduct an entrance examination to get admission to their B.Sc. (Hons.) Microbiology degree course.
- Selection to the degree course in these colleges is based on marks secured in the final merit i.e. total marks aggregated in the final exams of 10+2 and the entrance exam.
